  1. 1. FOREWORD & INTRODUCTION

    1. The Sports Car Open Endurance Series (also referred to as ‘SCO Endurance Series’ or ‘the series’ in this document) is a team-based, multiclass racing league, which is organised and run by morphicon media AG (also referred to as ‘series administration’ in this document) on the iRacing.com Motorsports Simulation service.
    2. The regulations in this document, together with the iRacing Sporting Code, iRacing’s End User Licence Agreement and iRacing’s Privacy Policy form the body of rules and procedures applicable to all participants and events of the Sports Car Open Endurance Series.
    3. All participants are expected to conduct themselves in a professional manner. Any behaviour that’s determined to be detrimental to the series by the series administration may lead to penalties or disqualification from the series.
    4. Every participating party is required to read, understand and agree to all rules and regulations prior to participating in any event held as part of the series.
    5. The regulations in this document may be edited to add, remove, modify or replace rules whenever the series administration deems it to be necessary. All changes made will be communicated via bulletins and will be in effect immediately unless otherwise specified.
    6. The regulations may also be supplemented by event-specific rules that will be published in the briefing document for each event. In the case of any contradictions between rules written in this document and rules written in a bulletin or event briefing, the bulletins or event briefing will always overrule this document.
  2. 2. ELIGIBLE CAR MODELS

    1. The series will feature three separate classes of cars: Prototype (P), Grand Touring Professional (GTP) and Grand Touring Amateur (GTA). The list of all eligible car models for these car classes along with any assigned performance adjustments for both car classes can be seen below.
      Prototype (P) Performance Adjustments
      Dallara P217 - Gibson 100% fuel capacity (=75 l) / 0 kg ballast / 100% power
Grand Touring (GTP & GTA) Performance Adjustments
      Audi R8 LMS GT3 100% fuel capacity (=104 l) / 0 kg ballast / 100% power
      BMW M4 GT3 - Prototype 100% fuel capacity (=103 l) / 0 kg ballast / 100% power
      Ferrari 488 GT3 Evo 2020 100% fuel capacity (=101 l) / 0 kg ballast / 100% power
      Lamborghini Huracan GT3 EVO 100% fuel capacity (=104 l) / 0 kg ballast / 100% power
      Mercedes-AMG GT3 2020 100% fuel capacity (=106 l) / 0 kg ballast / 100% power
      Porsche 911 GT3 R 100% fuel capacity (=98 l) / 0 kg ballast / 100% power
    2. The series administration reserves itself the right to adjust the performance of any car by adding ballast, changing the power output or by limiting the fuel capacity to balance the performance of the cars.
      1. Performance adjustments may be made until the start of the warm-up session ahead of each event.
    3. Should a new or updated GT3 specification car model become available after the car model selection deadline (see Article 7.3.1), the series administration may permit teams competing in the GTP or GTA category to switch to a different car model during the season.
      1. The rules, limitations and deadlines for such a mid-season car model change will be outlined by the series administration.
    4. With the exception of pre-qualifying, all cars will compete with IMSA specification during all events.
  3. 3. TIMETABLE & SEASON SCHEDULE

    1. In addition to pre-qualifying, the series will run a total of 7 different events during the season. The start times and in-game times of day for each session held is listed below.

  4. 4. DRIVER RATINGS

    1. All drivers competing in the series will be given a driver rating which will be determined by the Road iRating they had on August 1st, 2022 at 00:00 UTC.
      1. After their initial classification, driver ratings may be updated should a competitor’s Road iRating have changed significantly enough to change his driver rating by January 1st, 2023 at 00:00 UTC or if the series administration determines that a driver is significantly outperforming or is being significantly outperformed by the vast majority of the other drivers with their driver rating.
      2. Should the series administration suspect that a driver has artificially lowered their Road iRating ahead of being added to an entry’s line-up for the first time or ahead of the mid-season driver rating update in order to be classified with a lower rating, the driver in question may have their driver rating upgraded to a higher rating immediately.
    2. Drivers will be given one of the following three driver ratings:
      1. Professional (or PRO) for drivers with a Road iRating of 5000 or more.
      2. Professional-Amateur (or PRO-AM) for drivers with a Road iRating of at least 4000 but no more than 4999.
      3. Amateur (or AM) for drivers with a Road iRating of at least 3000 but no more than 3999.
      4. Drivers who do not fulfil the minimum standard to be classified as an AM-rated driver may apply to the series administration for permission to compete in that category. Whether permission will be granted to the team making the request will be decided by the series administration on a case-by-case basis.
    3. A list of all drivers who have been added to a team’s line-up during the season and their current driver ratings will be available on the series’ website here.
  5. 5. ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

    1. Every team manager, who wishes to file one or multiple entries into the series, must have an account on the series website (endurance.sportscaropen.com) to be able to do so.
      1. The team manager registered on file will be the sole official point of contact for the series administration.
    2. When filing an entry, a team manager must list a team’s name, nationality, iRacing team ID, car class, desired car model and must pick a number from the range of available numbers for their category.
      1. The Team manager must also list their address or their team’s address which will be used as the billing address should the entry qualify or be called up to fill a spot on the grid.
      2. Regardless of whether the Grand Touring Professional (GTP) or Grand Touring Amateur (GTA) class is chosen when filing an entry, every GTP and GTA entry will also automatically be entered into the combined Grand Touring (GT) class.
    3. Each car class will have its own range of car numbers to better distinguish teams running in one car class from those in another.
      1. Each entry entered into the Prototype (P) class must pick a still available number raging between 2 and 99.
      2. Each entry entered into the Grand Touring Professional (GTP) class must pick a still available number ranging between 102 and 199.
      3. Each entry entered into the Grand Touring Amateur (GTA) class must pick a still available number ranging between 202 and 299.
      4. The previous season’s Prototype (P) teams’ champions may request to use car number 1 should they return to the series in the P class.
      5. The previous season’s Grand Touring (GT) teams’ champions may request to use car number 101 should they return to the series in the GTP class or car number 201 should they return to the series in the GTA class.
    4. Every team entered must have a unique driver line-up consisting of at least 2 but no more than 6 drivers.
      1. Team managers must list every driver’s first and last name, nationality as well as iRacing user ID. Team managers may also list their drivers’ email addresses to enable them to file protests for their entry.
    5. For all categories only drivers with certain ratings will be eligible. The list of all driver ratings and how they’re established is available in Section 4 of this document.
      1. The driver line-up of any entry competing in the P category may only list drivers with a PRO or PRO-AM rating. Drivers with an AM rating are not eligible for the P category.
      2. The driver line-up of any entry competing in the GTP category may only list drivers with a PRO or PRO-AM rating. Drivers with an AM rating are not eligible for the GTP category.
      3. The driver line-up of any entry competing in the GTA category may only list drivers with a PRO-AM or AM rating. Drivers with a PRO rating are eligible, but may only be listed if at least one PRO-AM and one AM driver or two AM drivers are also part of the driver line-up. Should a team entering the GTA category enter using an automatic entry (see Section 6), only a single AM driver must be listed.
    6. The series administration reserves itself the right to prevent teams, team managers and drivers from entering the series if it's deemed to be necessary from their point of view.
      1. Decisions like these will be made based on a team's, team manager's or driver's conduct in other leagues as well as official iRacing series in the weeks and months leading up to the entry request, though other reasons may also factor into the decision.
      2. The decision to reject the entry of a team, team manager or driver will be made on a case-by-case basis for each season, meaning that teams, team managers and drivers who are prevented from entering may attempt to enter the series again in future.
      3. The series administration's decision to reject the entry of any team, team manager or driver into the current season is final and cannot be appealed.
  6. 6. AUTOMATIC ENTRIES

    1. Any team awarded an automatic entry will be exempt from having to go through the pre-qualifying process in order to participate in the series.
    2. The series administration reserves itself the right to award teams with automatic entries based on their results in previous seasons of the series or for any other reason it deems fit.
      1. The series administration also reserves itself the right to transfer automatic entries to teams other than those who earned them, provided that the new team is deemed to be a continuation of the team that would otherwise have received the automatic entry in question.
    3. In order to make use of an automatic entry when filing an entry to the series, team managers have to confirm that this is their intention via a checkbox at the end of the series entry form.
    4. The validity of automatic entries may have additional conditions such as being restricted to a certain car class attached to it.
      1. Multiple entrants with automatic entries may swap them between each other, for example to switch which car category an automatic entry is valid for.
      2. All involved parties must also contact the series administration to prove that each of them is in agreement regarding the swap.
      3. Entrants may also file a request with the series administration in order to change which class their automatic entry or entries are valid for. Permission for the change will be granted by the series administration on a case-by-case basis.
    5. A list of all teams who may enter the series using automatic entry and the conditions tied to those automatic entries can be found here.
    6. The series administration reserves itself the right to reject the entry of any team attempting to file an entry using an automatic entry as well as the entry of any driver filed by a team entering using an automatic entry without naming a reason should they deem it necessary.
  7. 7. ENTRY PROCEDURE

    1. Entries open on Tuesday, August 9th, 2022 at 16:00 UTC and close on Tuesday, September 20th, 2022 at 23:59 UTC (see Article 7.3). From the point of sign-ups opening, all team managers will be able to enter teams on the series website.
      1. No team will be permitted to file more than 3 entries per category.
      2. Exceptions to Article 7.1.1 may be granted by the series administration on a case-by-case basis upon request.
    2. After filing an entry via the entry form on the website, a team’s entry into the series will be considered complete, provided the entry is filed in compliance with Articles 5.2 to 5.5.3.
    3. The entry deadline as well as the deadline for any changes to an entry will be on Tuesday, September 20th, 2022 at 23:59 UTC. From this point onwards, team managers may only modify the driver line-ups as well as requesting a change of their chosen car model for entries competing in the GTP or GTA category.
      1. Team managers of entries competing in the GTP or GTA category must declare their final car model choice no later than Sunday, October 16th, 2022 at 23:59 UTC. Following this point in-time, every team will be locked into the car model they currently have listed as part of their entry on the series’ website. The only circumstances under which teams may change their car model without penalty after this deadline is outlined in Articles 2.3 and 2.3.1.
      2. Any changes to an entry’s driver line-up must be made no later than 24 hours before the start of each event’s warm-up session. For pre-qualifying, the deadline will be 12 hours before the start of the pre-qualifying period.
      3. Driver line-up changes made after the deadline listed in Article 7.3.2 will result in a 45 second time penalty for the affected team should a driver that was added to a team’s line-up too late compete in the race. For pre-qualifying, all driver line-up changes made after the deadline will be invalid with those drivers not being permitted to participate in pre-qualifying.
      4. Following pre-qualifying, each entry’s 2 fastest drivers from the pre-qualifying period will be locked into their team’s line-up until Saturday, November 19th, 2022 at 23:59 UTC. These drivers may not be moved to another entry’s line-up until this deadline has passed.
    4. Following the entry period, a pre-qualifying will be held to determine the 50 entries that will be admitted to enter the season. All information on the pre-qualifying procedure can be found in Section 10 of this document
      1. The exact split of P, GTP and GTA entries among all cars admitted will be determined by the number of entries wishing to compete in each category, but no category will be allowed to have fewer than 14 or more than 20 participants in any case. For the GTP and GTA categories, should the demand in one category significantly outweigh that of the other, both classes may also be merged.
      2. The number of entries permitted to compete in each category will be announced no later than the entry deadline ahead of pre-qualifying (see Article 7.3).
      3. Should no more or fewer than 50 entries wish to participate in the series, pre-qualifying will be cancelled and all teams will automatically be admitted to enter the season.
      4. Should no more or fewer than 45 entries wish to participate in the series, the series will be cancelled.
    5. All qualified teams must pay the entry fee of 150.00 € (Euro) (not including VAT, processing fees or transaction charges) in full no later than Sunday, October 16th, 2022 at 23:59 UTC.
      1. Pre-qualified teams will be contacted regarding payment. All payment details will be provided.
      2. Any qualified teams that fail to pay the entry fee by this point in time will lose their spot in the series to the next best team in their respective car class from the pre-qualifying results, who will then be given 48 hours to pay the entry fee and claim the vacant spot.
      3. Any qualified entries that fail to pay the entry fee by the deadline listed in Article 7.5 will be refused entry into any event until they have provided confirmation that their payment has been submitted.
      4. Should an entry in question not be able to provide confirmation that they have submitted their payment, the series administration may call up the highest-placed waiting list team in that entry’s category to fill their spot on the grid instead with a new payment deadline and details being provided to that team in due course.
    6. The status of each entry filed will be communicated via the website and via team status update emails.
      1. Every new entry will automatically be given the ‘Pending’ status.
      2. Once a filed entry has been reviewed by the series administration, a team’s status will be set to ‘Reviewed’.
      3. All teams who have entered the series using an automatic entry as well as all teams who have advanced through pre-qualifying to the main series will have their status set to ‘Qualified’ while the status of all reserve list teams will be set to ‘Reserve’.
      4. Once a team with the ‘Qualified’ status has paid the entry fee in full (see Article 7.5), the team status will be changed to ‘Confirmed’.
    7. Should a ‘Confirmed’ team in a particular car class withdraw from the series or be removed from it, the series administration may ask the highest-placed team from that car class’ waiting list to fill the slot for the remainder of the season.
      1. Teams who replace previously confirmed teams before the 3rd event of the season must also pay the full entry fee of 150.00 € (Euro) (not including VAT, processing fees or transaction charges) before they’re allowed to compete.
      2. Teams who replace previously confirmed teams after the 3rd event of the season but before the 5th event of the season must pay a reduced entry fee of 112.50 € (Euro) (not including VAT, processing fees or transaction charges) before they’re allowed to compete.

Teams who replace previously confirmed teams after the 5th event of the season but before the 7th event of the season must pay a reduced entry fee of 75.00 € (Euro) (not including VAT, processing fees or transaction charges) before they’re allowed to compete.
      3. Teams who replace previously confirmed teams after the 6th event of the season must pay a reduced entry fee of 37.50 € (Euro) (not including VAT or transaction charges) before they’re allowed to compete.
      4. The series administration can decide whether they wish to fill vacant spots on the grid by calling up waiting list teams on a case-by-case basis.
    8. Teams who withdraw from the series or are removed from it, either due to missing too many events or for any other reason, will not be eligible for a refund and may be restricted from participation in future Sports Car Open series or events.
  8. 8. ABSENCE NOTIFICATIONS

    1. Should a ‘Confirmed’ team have to miss an event, they must notify the series administration of their absence no later than the start of that round’s first warm-up session.
    2. Teams may miss up to 2 events provided they’ve informed the series administration about their absence from said events by the deadline listed in Article 8.1.
    3. Any team that fails to inform the series administration about their absence from a round on more than one occasion will be removed from the series.
    4. Teams may only notify the series administration about their absence from an event via the communication channels listed in Section 21 of this document.
  9. 9. CAR PAINTS

    1. All teams participating in the series are required to submit custom car paints.
      1. Any team that doesn’t submit a car paint, as well as any team that has their car paint rejected by the series administration, will be assigned a generic livery by the series administration.
    2. All custom car paints that are received by the series administration will be reviewed and must be in compliance with the five rules listed below.
      1. Teams must be able to provide written permission from the companies involved, to be allowed to run sponsors' logos on their car.
      2. Logos of products that compete with iRacing (such as the Gran Turismo and Forza franchises for example) will not be permitted. The same is the case for logos of automotive brands that compete with the brand of car that they're displayed on.
      3. It will be strictly forbidden for paint schemes to directly or indirectly promote tobacco or any products that are restricted to minors by law (e.g.: alcohol, knives, etc.). They must not include any kind of political message.
      4. No team liveries will be allowed to run 'parodies' of logos or other intellectual property.
    3. Custom number panels, sunstrip overlays and additional logos will be used and must be included on all car paint files that are sent to the series administration.
      1. These mandatory elements will be available on the series website here.
      2. The mandatory elements must not be edited and must be placed in the exact pixel position they’re in on the website.
    4. All paint files must be submitted as TARGA (.tga) files with a 24 bits/pixel resolution and RLE compression enabled. Car paint files should be named as shown below.
car_num_team_XXXXXX.tga	(XXXXXX should be your team's ID)
    5. All submitted spec maps must be submitted as TARGA (.tga) files should be named as shown below:
car_spec_team_XXXXXX.tga	(XXXXXX should be your team’s ID)
      1. Teams, who wish to make use of custom spec maps, must ensure that none of the paint elements mandated by the series administration are made overly reflective or have their appearance changed in other ways.
    6. Any team that’s running multiple models of the same car is also required to add elements to their car paints that make it easier to distinguish one entry from the other (e.g.: different coloured mirrors; rear wing endplates; etc.).
      1. It is up to the series administration to judge sufficient distinction.
    7. To submit custom paint files, they must be sent to mail@sportscaropen.com at least 48 hours before the start of an event’s warm-up session. A ZIP file with all approved paint files will be provided by the series administration ahead of each event.
      1. Team’s car number, team name and car class must be included in the email’s subject line when sending paint files. An example for an acceptable subject line format can be seen below:
Subject Line: SCOES Paints (#0 / Example Esports)
      2. It’s also possible to send multiple paint files in a single email, but it must be clear which files belong to which entry in the mail itself.
    8. The series administration will check whether every team’s car paint is in compliance with Articles 9.2.1 to 9.2.4 and will also check whether all mandatory paint elements are included and in the correct position.
      1. If there are issues with a submitted paint file, the series administration will contact the team in question to explain what must be changed for the paint to be in compliance with all rules.
    9. Driver suits and helmet paints may also be submitted, provided they also comply with Articles 9.2.1 to 9.2.4.
    10. The series administration reserves itself the right to reject any paints it receives for any reason it deems fit.
  10. 10. PRE-QUALIFYING PROCEDURE

    1. Pre-Qualifying will take place from Thursday, September 22nd, 2022 to Sunday, September 25th, 2022 in the series’ iRacing league.
      1. All eligible drivers will be sent an invite to said iRating league in-time for pre-qualifying.
    2. For teams competing in the P category, any driver eligible to compete in their class (as outlined in Article 5.5.1) may compete in pre-qualifying.
    3. For teams competing in the GTP category, any driver eligible to compete in their class (as outlined in Article 5.5.2) may compete in pre-qualifying.
    4. For teams competing in the GTA category, any driver eligible to compete in their class (as outlined in Article 5.5.3) may compete in pre-qualifying, with the exception of any PRO ranked drivers who are part of an entry’s driver line-up.
    5. During the pre-qualifying period, 2 sessions will launch every 6 hours, with the first 2 sessions launching on September 22nd at 00:00 UTC and the final 2 sessions launching on September 25th at 18:00 UTC.
    6. Each session will consist of a 240 minute long lone qualifier session which will be preceded by a 15 minute long lone practice session, in which all drivers can register themselves and join the session.
    7. Eligible drivers may participate in as many different sessions as they wish during the pre-qualifying period.
    8. All sessions will be set up using the following settings:
Venue (Layout): Autodromo José Carlos Pace (Grand Prix)
      SimTime: 2021-05-15 @ 14:08 (dynamic sky disabled)
Track State: Set to 100% at the start of each session; marbles are cleaned
Weather: 65 °F ambient; 55% RH; N winds at 2 mph; clear sky
    9. The 14 to 20 fastest teams from each category (P, GTP and GTA) will qualify for the series with the total size of the grid being capped at 50 cars in total.
      1. The precise number of available slots in the P, GTP and GTA categories that teams may qualify for will be determined once the series administration has determined the exact split of P, GTP and GTA spots on the series’ grid (see Article 7.4 to 7.4.2).
      2. Once this exact split has been determined, the number of automatic entries in each of those categories will be deducted from the total number of spots in that class to arrive at the amount of open slots in the category for pre-qualifying.
    10. To set a valid pre-qualifying time, at least 2 drivers must set a run of 10 consecutive valid (incident-free) lap times in one of the available sessions. The average of the average of the 2 fastest drivers’ fastest run of 10 consecutive valid lap times will be used to determine the overall team pre-qualifying time.
      1. Any entry, for which only one driver has completed a valid 10 lap run, will be disqualified. The same applies to any entry using a driver who was not eligible to compete in pre-qualifying, was not part of a team’s line-up before the entry deadline or was not part of the driver line-up at all during pre-qualifying.
    11. Each driver must be able to provide a single replay of their fastest run of 10 consecutive valid lap times (per car, if multiple cars were used), starting immediately after leaving the garage - up to the completion of their final timed lap. It is the drivers’ sole responsibility to record, cut and save this explicit part of the replay. Third party replays (such as spectator replays or replays provided by other event participants) will not be accepted. Failure to provide a replay will result in an invalidation of the run in question.
      1. Should a driver’s replay be requested by the series administration, this replay must be made available to the series administration no later than Monday, September 26th, 2022 at 23:59 UTC.
    12. Teams may use any or multiple of the car models eligible for their class (see Article 3.1) during pre-qualifying, regardless of which car model is listed next as part of their entry on the series’ website.
    13. Teams who did not place high enough in their car class to qualify for the series will be placed on the waiting list for their car class in order of overall pre-qualifying lap times.
    14. Teams who were disqualified from or did not participate in pre-qualifying will not be placed on the waiting list and are not eligible to be called up to fill a vacant spot on the grid should one become available.
  11. 11. WARM-UP SESSIONS

    1. During warm-up sessions, all teams and drivers will be able to connect to the race server to prepare and do practice laps ahead of qualifying and the race.
    2. Teams will be required to register with the correct team and car each time, meaning that the team ID, team name, car number and car model have to match the information listed on the series’ entry list.
    3. Should a team join with the incorrect team ID or car number, they will be allowed to participate in the race session, but will be given a 30 second time penalty for the race.
      1. No penalty will be given to teams who had their car number taken away by a team that registered before them.
    4. Any team that registers with the wrong car model or even registers with multiple teams will be disqualified from the event in question.
  12. 12. QUALIFYING SESSIONS

    1. All qualifying sessions will be 55 minute long open qualifying sessions which will be split into three 15 minute long segments with a 5 minute break between each of these segments.
      1. During the first 15 minute long segment, running from the start of the qualifying session until the 15 minute mark, only Grand Touring Amateur (GTA) class teams may go on-track and qualify.
      2. During the second 15 minute long segment, running from the 20 minute mark until the 35 minute mark, only Grand Touring Professional (GTP) class teams may go on-track and qualify.
      3. During the third 15 minute long segment, running from the 40 minute mark until the end of the qualifying session, only Prototype (P) class teams may go on-track and qualify.
      4. During the first 5 minute long break between the first and second qualifying segment, GTP class cars may queue up at the exit of the pit lane (ahead of the green cones demarcating the end of the speed limited area) while waiting for the start of their class’ qualifying segment.
      5. During the second 5 minute long break between the second and third qualifying segment, P class cars may queue up at the exit of the pit lane (ahead of the green cones demarcating the end of the speed limited area) while waiting for the start of their class’ qualifying segment.
    2. GTP and P cars may not leave the pit lane before the start of their respective class’ qualifying segment. The signal that teams may leave the pit lane to go out on-track and qualify will be given by the series administration via the in-game chat.
    3. GTA and GTP cars may not start new laps after the end of their respective class’ qualifying segment. The signal that teams may not start new laps will be given by the series administration via the in-game chat.
    4. Any one driver from an entry’s driver line-up may drive the car during their car class’ qualifying segment. Driver changes during qualifying are not permitted.
      1. For GTA entries, only drivers with a PRO-AM or an AM rating may pilot the car during qualifying.
    5. During their qualifying segment, all drivers on-track must be aware of their surroundings at all times. Any team found to be interfering with another team's qualifying laps in any way, may be penalised if the incident is observed by or reported to the series administration.
    6. Drivers will not be allowed to exit their cars by pressing the ‘Escape’ button, by having a teammate remove them from the car or to tow back to the pit lane via ‘Shift+R’ shortcut at any time after they have left the pit lane for the first time during their car class’ qualifying segment.
      1. ‘Left the pit lane’ is defined as having passed the green cones that demarcate the end of the speed-limited area.
      2. Teams who are found to have left the pit lane again after the driver has exited the car or towed back to the pit lane as described above, will have 45 seconds added to their race time in the event the violation occurred.
      3. Teams who have lost connection to the server will also not be permitted to rejoin the track again.
    7. Teams who are observed to have left the pit lane (as defined in Article 12.6.1) outside their car class’ qualifying segment by the series administration or another team, will receive a 30 second time penalty for the race.
    8. Teams who do not set a time during qualifying must start the race from the back of the grid. Should this be the case for multiple teams, they’ll be gridded in order of their fastest times from the first warm-up session.
    9. The series administration may not allow a team or driver to take the start, if they’re deemed to be a potential danger to other cars on-track during the race.
  13. 13. RACE SESSIONS

    1. In each event, any driver from a team’s line-up will be allowed to take the race start.
    2. The driver, who set a team’s fastest qualifying time will be required to complete one full lap for that entry in the race.
      1. For this purpose, a full lap is defined as a lap that does not start or end in the pit lane.
    3. All races will utilise the standard rolling start procedure the iRacing software provides with the following alterations:
      1. All cars must remain in grid formation while also keeping to the circuit’s pace car speed until the start of the race. Frequent accelerating and braking as well as deviating too far from the pace car speed may be penalised.
      2. The first GTP or GTA class car must leave a gap of 3 to 5 seconds to the last P car ahead of them at all times. For the race start, both GTP and GTA will start as a single group of GT cars.
      3. All drivers must ignore the green flag signal as displayed by iRacing. Drivers who fail to ignore the green flag may be penalised, especially if they cause an incident through their violation of this rule.
      4. The race start for each start group, P and the combined GTP and GTA group, will be initiated by the pole sitting car beginning to accelerate in a designated start zone. The exact location of this start zone will be communicated via the event briefing ahead of each round of the series.
      5. Once the class pole sitter has begun accelerating, all cars will be free to race.
      6. Should the pole sitter have accelerated too early, too late or slowed down again after increasing their speed, they may be penalised.
      7. Teams that start from the pit lane must line up at pit exit in a queue. They will not be allowed to leave the lane until the series administration declares the pit exit open.
      8. Any team that is given a black flag by iRacing despite complying with Articles 13.3.1 to 13.3.7 may request to have that black flag cleared by the series administration.
    4. The maximum lap share each driver will be allowed to complete during each race will be determined by the car class they’re competing in and by their driver rating.
      1. In the P category, any single PRO or PRO-AM ranked driver may not complete more than 70 % of an entry’s total number of laps.
      2. In the GTP category, any single PRO or PRO-AM-ranked driver may not complete more than 70 % of an entry’s total number of laps.
      3. In the GTA category, all PRO-ranked and PRO-AM-ranked drivers together may not complete more than 50% of an entry’s total number of laps. Any single AM-ranked driver may not complete more than 70% of an entry’s total number of laps.
      4. For all lap share limits, fractional amounts of laps will always be rounded to the closest full number. An example of how lap share limits are calculated can be seen below.

A GTP team has completed 157 laps with Driver 1 having completed 110 laps and Driver 2 having completed 47 laps.
        => 70 % of 157 laps is 109.9 laps => 109.9 is rounded up to 110
=> The team in question and Driver 1 is within the lap share limit

      5. Any completed laps beyond the lap share limit of a driver or a group of drivers, as described in Articles 13.4.1 and 13.4.3, will be deducted from the team’s total number of completed laps.
    5. An incident limit of 60 incident points will be enforced during all races in the season.
      1. Any team that reaches the incident limit described in Article 13.5 will be given a 15 second time penalty.
      2. Following the first penalty, teams will be given a further 15 second time penalty for every 15th incident point beyond the number of incident points they were given their first penalty for.
      3. Any time penalties relating to breaches of the incident limit that cannot be served during the race will be added to the affected entry’s race time after the race.
    6. Any team found to be using an unlisted driver or more than 6 different drivers over the course of an event, starting from the first warm-up session until the conclusion of the race, will be disqualified from that round.
  14. 14. GENERAL DRIVING CONDUCT

    1. When passing, it’s the responsibility of the overtaking car and the car being overtaken to ensure that a safe overtake can take place. When two cars are reasonably alongside each other, both must give the other racing room. This applies to lapping manoeuvres just as much as to overtakes for race positions.
    2. When shown the blue flag, drivers are informed that they’re about to be passed by a faster car. While drivers are not required to yield track position to the faster car behind them when shown the blue flag, they must behave in a predictable manner at all times.
    3. Drivers will not be allowed to block and must choose their line ahead of a corner without moving under braking when defending against a passing attempt from an opponent. For this purpose, blocking is defined as a driver reacting to line changes of the car behind to fend off any attempts of the car behind to get alongside them. Any driver who in the eyes of the series administration violates this rule may be penalised.
    4. Any driver who, in the opinion of the series administration, is deemed to be responsible for an incident where another car spins, loses a position, is forced off the circuit or damaged may be penalised.
    5. During all qualifying and race sessions, drivers must not stop their car on-track and will not be permitted to deliberately drive off the circuit or to shortcut the circuit.
    6. Should a driver go off-track, they have to make sure that the track is clear before rejoining the racing surface in a safe manner. Dangerous track re-entries may be penalised if they’re observed by or reported to the series administration, especially if another competitor was delayed or involved in an incident because of an unsafe rejoin.
    7. Leaving the track in order to gain an advantage or to gain time may be penalised (see Articles 13.5 to 13.5.3).
    8. Under a waved yellow flag, drivers must pay attention to the road ahead, must proceed with caution as well as looking out for any slow or stationary cars on the circuit.
  15. 15. STREAMING REGULATIONS

    1. Drivers, teams or their respective team members may also stream the events from their respective point of view, exclusively from their own cockpit / onboard perspective on a video streaming platform of their choosing. This may also feature face-cam footage from the driver.
    2. Should a team / driver stream their respective race from a point of view perspective, they must give clear information about the series and race in question and feature the official series / race title, series partners and sponsors, as well as a clearly visible link to the official series broadcast.
    3. Any kind of professional broadcasts by anyone but the series’ broadcast partner must be explicitly allowed in written form by the series administration and otherwise are not permitted. This includes but is not limited to the use of external cameras, professional audio tracks, professional directing or producing and / or external commentary.
  16. 16. RACE STOPPAGES

    1. If the iRacing service fails during an event resulting in drivers being unable to join or stay connected to the race server or if the server becomes unstable enough to cause major issues for the drivers on-track, the race may be stopped.
    2. Should this occur, the series administration will announce the stoppage of the race via the announcement of the red flag in the in-game text chat (if the session is still accessible to the series administration) as well as on the series Discord.
    3. The series administration will decide on how to treat the race stoppage on an individual basis, depending on how much of the scheduled race time passed since the start of the race and also on whether there's still usable timing data left over to create a race result.
    4. In the case that a race restart is not a viable option, the series administration may call a race.
      1. If a race has run for at least 75% of its advertised distance, the series administration may award full championship points based on the results of that race.
      2. If a race has run for at least 50% of its advertised distance, the series administration may award half championship points based on the results of that race.
      3. If less than 50% of the advertised distance has passed before the race was stopped via the red flag, the result will not count towards any championships.
      4. In any case, the result of any abandoned race will always be based on the running order on the penultimate lap that was completed by the overall race leader before the issues that led to the race stoppage started occurring.
    5. The series administration will decide on whether a red-flagged race, that could not be restarted within a reasonable amount of time, the event will be rescheduled.
    6. In the event that an event has to be abandoned with there being no fitting date for a rescheduled race, the event will be cancelled.
    7. Should the series administration determine that a race restart is a viable option, the applicable restart procedure as described in Section 22 of this document.
  17. 17. PROTESTS

    1. Teams may protest any incidents they were involved in or affected by. The only way to do so is by filing a protest via the series protest form at any point after the start of qualifying to a maximum of one hour after the event has concluded.
      1. Teams may not protest the qualifying results as they are final and cannot be modified by the series administration.
      2. The series administration may protest any incident they’ve observed themselves at any point during or after the protest deadline listed in Article 17.1.1.
      3. For all protests filed, the series administration will attempt to reach a verdict as quickly as possible, to ensure that as many of the protests as possible will result in the guilty parties being penalised during the race if applicable.
      4. All verdicts made and potential penalties given after the conclusion of the race will be published as soon as possible following the protest deadline (see Article 17.1).
      5. Once the outcomes of all investigations have been published, the race results will be declared official.
    2. Frivolous protests will be ignored. Should a team be found to file such protests, they may be warned or even penalised for their actions.
    3. The start of every race will automatically be reviewed by the series administration.
    4. All verdicts reached by the series administration are judgements of fact and cannot be appealed under any circumstances.
  18. 18. PENALTIES

    1. There are several types of penalties that can be assigned to teams and drivers following an investigation by the series administration. The list of possible penalties can be seen below.
      • Warning
      • Time Penalty (minimum of 5 seconds)
      • Drive-Through Penalty
      • Stop & Go Penalty
      • Stop & Hold Penalty (minimum of 10 seconds)
      • Qualifying Ban
      • Points Deduction
      • Disqualification
    2. An overview of which penalties may be assigned for which types of driving offences can be seen below.
      • Qualifying Infringement (e.g.: impeding another car, contacts, collisions)
        Penalty: 10 second time penalty
      • Start Procedure Violation (e.g.: reacting to iRacing green, jump start)
        Penalty: 15 second time penalty
      • Driving Conduct Violation (e.g.: failing to leave racing room, improper pass)
        Penalty: 5 second time penalty
      • Incident Responsibility (e.g.: spinning another car)
        Penalty: 15 second time penalty
      • Blocking (reacting to moves of the following car)
        Penalty: 10 second time penalty
      • Dangerous Track Re-entry (e.g.: forcing others to react when rejoining)
        Penalty: 30 second time penalty
      • Reckless Driving (e.g.: intentionally causing a collision)
        Penalty: Disqualification
      1. The penalties listed above are guidelines for penalties that may be assigned for such offences. Repeat offenders may receive harsher penalties, especially if they’ve been penalised for the same or a similar type of offence before, while less severe penalties may be assigned if deemed applicable.
    3. All time penalties issued must be served in a specific location in the pit lane, referred to as the ‘penalty box’. The location of this penalty box for each event will be communicated via that event’s briefing document.
      1. Any team serving a penalty in the penalty box must come to a complete stop for the duration of the penalty, before driving away again and resuming their race.
      2. After a penalty in the penalty box has been served, the team in question must inform the series administration of this in the appropriate channel on the series’ Discord server. When doing so, teams must state their car number and the lap and time code when they served their penalty. Failing to notify the series administration about this will result in said penalty being considered as not served.
      3. Time penalties must be served within 90 minutes of being issued. Should there be fewer than 90 minutes to go in the race, teams may elect to not serve the penalty and to instead have the penalty time added to their race time after the race.
      4. Should a team have incurred multiple time penalties, they will be allowed to serve the combined penalty time during a single stop, as long as all penalties were served within 90 minutes of being issued, were served in the correct location and the car was completely stopped for the combined duration of all penalties.
      5. Should a time penalty not have been served as outlined in Article 18.3.1, due to the stationary time being too short, the penalty being served in the wrong location or the penalty being served too late, the team in question will have a further penalty with double the penalty time awarded to them for violating the previously mentioned regulations.
      6. The penalty outlined in Article 18.3.5 also applies in cases where multiple penalties were served incorrectly, resulting in a further time penalty with double the combined penalty time being awarded to the team for the violation.
    4. The series administration reserves itself the right to issue a team with a further penalty, if a team does not serve a penalty they've been given.
    5. Should a team receive a stop and hold penalty, they may combine the serving of their penalty with a pit stop, though should any tyres be changed, fuel be added or repairs be made to the car, 25 seconds will automatically be added to their penalty time by iRacing.
    6. A list of all submitted protests, the identity of the parties who filed them and the stewards’ decisions will be available on the series’ website.
    7. All warnings and penalties that are issued after an event will be published as soon as possible following the end of the race.
  19. 19. DRIVER LICENCE POINTS

    1. All driving conduct violations and incidents caused by a driver are tracked over the course of the season with drivers receiving driver licence points for every penalty that is given out due to their actions by the series administration.
    2. The number of driver licence points a driver may receive from being deemed responsible for an incident is outlined below.
      • Qualifying Infringement (e.g.: impeding another car, contacts, collisions)
        Penalty: 1 driver licence point
      • Start Procedure Violation (e.g.: reacting to iRacing green, jump start)
        Penalty: 2 driver licence points
      • Driving Conduct Violation (e.g.: failing to leave racing room, improper pass)
        Penalty: 1 driver licence point
      • Incident Responsibility (e.g.: spinning another car)
        Penalty: 2 driver licence points
      • Blocking (reacting to moves of the following car)
        Penalty: 1 driver licence point
      • Dangerous Track Re-entry (e.g.: forcing others to react when rejoining)
        Penalty: 3 driver licence points
      • Reckless Driving (e.g.: intentionally causing a collision)
        Penalty: 12 driver licence points
    3. The driver licence points values listed above serve as guidelines for such types of offences. Repeat offenders may receive more driver licence points, especially if they’ve committed the same or a similar type of offence before, while fewer driver licence points may be assigned if deemed applicable.
    4. No driver licence points are given out for procedural violations such as registration issues or team editing deadline violations as well as incident point limit breaches or for penalties resulting from drivers exiting or having their cars towed during qualifying.
      1. Automated penalties given out by iRacing will also not result in a driver receiving any more driver licence points.
    5. Drivers may be excluded from participating in an event or multiple due to having received too many driver licence points. The driver licence point thresholds at which a driver will be sanctioned further are outlined below.
      Points Threshold Sanction
12 driver licence points Driver is excluded from the next season event
20 driver licence points Driver is excluded from the next two season events
25 driver licence points Driver is excluded from all remaining season events
    6. Should a driver surpass multiple driver licence points thresholds during a single event, only the more severe sanction will apply.
    7. Every driver’s driver licence points score will be kept up-to-date and tracked on the series’ website here.
  20. 20. RACE CLASSIFICATION & CHAMPIONSHIP

    1. All teams, who start a race, fulfil the maximum lap share requirements for their category for each driver and cover at least 75% of their category’s race-winning team's driven distance, will be classified in their achieved overall race position in the official results.
    2. There are 4 official championships in the series, a teams’ and drivers’ championship for each car class.
      1. The SCO Endurance Series Prototype teams' championship title will be awarded to the P category team which scores the most points throughout the whole season.
      2. The SCO Endurance Series Grand Touring teams' championship title will be awarded to the combined GTP and GTA category team which scores the most points throughout the whole season.

      13th 3
      14th 2
      15th 1
    5. In the event of a tie in the points standings, the position in question will go to the team with the most race victories.
      1. If neither team has a win or the same number of wins as the other tied team, the position will go to the team with the most second place finishes.
      2. If the same applies there, this procedure is continued until the tie can be broken.
    6. Following the final round of the season, the series administration may award automatic entries to the following season of the series to teams based on their championship results.
      1. To be eligible to receive an automatic entry to future seasons, they must have participated in at least 5 events and must not fulfil any of the requirements that would lead to them being removed from the series due to inactivity.
      2. The top 8 entries from the Prototype teams’ championship will receive automatic entries.
      3. The top 12 entries from the Grand Touring teams’ championship will receive automatic entries.
  21. 21. LEAGUE & SESSION SETTINGS

    1. All sessions held as part of the pre-qualifying process will be hosted in an iRacing league.
      1. Ahead of pre-qualifying, all eligible drivers will be sent an invite to this league.
      2. Drivers must accept the league invites before they’re able to participate in any session.
    2. All free practice and race sessions will be held using password-protected hosted sessions.
      1. The password needed to register and join these sessions will be included in the event briefing.
      2. Team managers and drivers alike must not share any session passwords with any persons or groups who are not authorised to participate in the sessions held as part of the series.
      3. Teams managers, drivers and other team affiliates who are caught or admit to having shared this information with unauthorised persons or groups may be penalised by the series administration with punishments such as removal from the series as well as exclusions from future Sports Car Open series and events.
    3. All in-game session settings that have not been brought up at an earlier point in this document are listed below.
      1. All sessions will be hosted on the DE-Frankfurt server farm.

      6. Dust and marbles will be removed at the start of each session unless otherwise specified.
      7. Full course cautions will be disabled.
      8. No fast repairs will be available unless otherwise specified.
      9. All driving aids with the exceptions of clutch assists will be disallowed.
      10. The Sun Acceleration Multiplier will be set to '1x' at all times.
      11. The Qualifying Conduct Scrutiny will be set to "Off" unless otherwise specified.
      12. All cars will run without tyre limits unless otherwise specified.
      13. All cars will be gridded together.
  22. 22. CONTACT DETAILS & COMMUNICATION

    1. Should any questions arise, team managers, drivers and others can contact the series administration using the email address below. Responses to any questions about the regulations, team line-up changes or other inquiries will usually be sent within 24 hours of the series administration receiving the original message.
      Contact Email Address: mail@sportscaropen.com
    2. All team managers and drivers are also required to join the Sports Car Open Discord server for better communication between the series administration and all participants. A permanent invite link to this Discord server can be found below.
      Discord Invite Link: https://discord.gg/KtEJcsdUnK
      1. Once they’ve joined the Discord server, team managers, drivers and other team affiliates must request the appropriate user roles in order to gain access to the series’ channels.
      2. The series administration advises all team managers and other team members who are in contact with drivers on-track to be online on the series Discord during events.
    3. The series administration will disable the in-game text and voice chat during all warm-up, qualifying and race sessions.
      1. Should teams wish to communicate with each other or with others, they may do so by using channels like the series’ Discord or private messages outside the iRacing client.
  23. 23. RED FLAG RESTART PROCEDURE

    1. Scenario 1: A mass disconnect or major connection issues occur, but the server becomes stable enough to continue the race and the timing data is intact.
      1. All cars left out on-track must slowly return to the pit lane and park in their pit stalls. Overtaking is not permitted during this in-lap. Teams will be allowed to service their cars once they reach their pit stall.
      2. Teams will be given a few minutes of time to make sure their drivers can reconnect to the server and to complete any pit work they may wish to do. After this period, the restart procedure begins.
      3. The series administration will instruct the overall leader to leave the pit lane, to complete a lap and stop just shy of the timing line to not start a new lap.
      4. One by one, all cars will be called out in order of their race position. They must also go around the track and park their car behind the car in front of them in the queue that’s been started by the race leader.
      5. Cars that have lost laps due to their driver disconnecting from the session will be instructed to do an extra lap or multiple extra laps before parking up at the end of the queue.
      6. The procedure described in Articles 23.1.4 and 23.1.5 will happen with all classes: First Prototype (P) and then the combined Grand Touring (GT) made up of the GTP and GTA categories.
      7. Once all cars are back out on-track and have formed up in the queue, drivers will be instructed to slowly drive away from their parked positions and must stick to the pace car speed as closely as possible. When driving away, all cars must remain in single file formation and in line with the cars ahead of them with the combined GT grid made up of GTP and GTA cars leaving a 3-5 second gap to the last car ahead of them.
      8. Once all queued up cars are back rolling, the series administration will give a ‘overall leader may accelerate’ signal via the in-game text chat.
      9. Once the overall race leader has begun accelerating, all cars will be free to race once more.
    2. Scenario 2: A new session is required because the current session is no longer accessible or the timing data is incomplete or missing.
      1. The series administration will put up a new session made up of a 15 minute practice, a 5 minute qualifying and the race time the race originally had, minus the already elapsed time, the time it took to set up the new session and a further 30 minutes to account for the restart procedure.
      2. All teams will be instructed to join the new session once it’s available. Teams must not set a time in the new sessions’ qualifying session.
      3. Once the new session has switched over to the race, only the overall leader of the race will be allowed to grid their car.
      4. Once the race starts, the series administration will instruct the overall leader to complete the first lap and stop just shy of the timing line to not start a new lap.
      5. One by one, all cars will be called out from the pit lane in order of their race position. They must also go around the track and park their car behind the car in front of them in the queue that’s been started by the race leader.
      6. The procedure described in Articles 23.2.4 and 23.2.5 will happen with all classes: First Prototype (P) and then the combined Grand Touring (GT) made up of the GTP and GTA categories.
